Guild Wars 3 Announced at Summer Game Fest
The rumors and build up to Summer Game Fest 2026 did not disappoint as the most anticipated game was announced; Guild Wars 3. This has been a long time coming for the developers of the Guild Wars franchise, ArenaNet, as their previous game, Guild Wars 2, came out nearly 14 years ago. This announcement in my opinion was the most consequential announcement for MMORPGs in nearly a decade, as the Guild Wars IP is a beloved franchise with a massive audience, that will almost surely only grow larger as we head toward a beta for Guild Wars 3 in fall of 2027.

My Personal Plans as it relates to the Guild Wars Franchise:
With the announcement of Guild Wars 3, I plan to eventually revisit the Guild Wars Franchise, starting with Guild Wars Reforged potentially as early as the middle to the end of this month. Guild Wars Reforged is the updated version of the original Guild Wars remastered with visual and quality of life updates. I never spent too much time in the original Guild Wars, but I always enjoyed the time that I did spend, so this revisit / playthrough is something I hope can be fun to explore.
As it relates to Guild Wars 2, I will probably save this playthrough for 2027 as we get closer to the beta window for Guild Wars 3. Perhaps summer of 2027 could be a good time to try and get addicted to the Guild Wars 2 game again, as I once was. My favorite part of Guild Wars 2 was probably the World vs World combat, as that allowed for a ton of people to play together in a PvP environment that rewarded you greatly for doing so. The loot was always immense, and it felt good to find a good group to PvP and capture outposts with.
