It Might be Time for a New Car

While I was running my errands yesterday after stream, my car unfortunately had an issue where I could no longer shift the automatic transmission out of park, leaving me stranded in a shopping plaza. I have had my Honda accord since 2005 and it has over 300 thousand miles (picture above is not my car). It was my first car that I purchased with my own money with the approval of my now dead father, so it has a lot of sentimental value for me and has taken me on many adventures during its tenure. It currently is still in the shopping plaza, but I intend to get it towed to a garage to get it worked on either today or tomorrow to see if it is something that can be fixed without too much expense.
The local shop I go to is one of the best around. I have taken my Honda accord to that shop on plenty of occasions to fix small things throughout the years in an effort to make the car last longer. I have liked this approach because it has ultimately saved me time and money in having to buy a brand new or used vehicle, and it has been economically smart to do so given the high cost of vehicles now a days. If the shop says they can save the car once again, I will opt to do so, even though some other issues have been popping up as of late that I need to take care of. My battery keeps dying even though it is a newer battery, so I may have to have them look at the connection in the engine to ensure that it is not fragmented in some way to cause the battery to die constantly.
If the cost to repair the vehicle is too high, I will have to make a decision to either buy a new car or buy a used car, and this will ultimately be one of the largest purchases I will have to make in recent memory. While I ultimately have the money saved to buy a new car, I think it might be smarter to look into buying another used car, especially since I don't drive that much and can make it last a long time. Part of me wants to buy the most economically affordable vehicle, both in price and in miles per gallon fuel efficiency, while another part of me wants to buy a larger vehicle with ample space in case there comes a time when I need to travel and sleep in the vehicle itself. I really do not know what the future holds for me, especially with streaming on twitch being insufficient to pay for my lifestyle, so having the option to sleep in a vehicle makes sense for me.
In any event, today I will need to get my car towed and hopefully it will lead to an affordable fix, so I don't have to rush to buy a new car right away. I will need to seriously consider doing so even with a fixed gear shift however, since the car is starting to show its age and it is time to get things moving. May the car gods bless me one more time and have the fix be an easy one.
Until next time,
Blackboa
