Happy Orthodox Christian Easter to those who Celebrate!

04/12/2026

If you are of the Orthodox Christian Faith, then you follow the Gregorian Calendar for religious holidays and that makes today, April 12, 2026, Easter.  As a Greek Orthodox Christian born and raised, I personally look forward to spending some time with family and friends today, just like millions of others across the globe, celebrating the resurrection of Christ.  I will be the first to admit that I have lost my faith in my religion over the years, but I still believe there is a god and I still appreciate the values that the Orthodox Christian religion has imparted on me and my loved ones.  Today's festivities will bring me to my aunt's house for Easter, and I look forward to seeing family, friends and eating delicious food.

I usually get sad during the Holidays, especially since both of my parents have passed away, and today I am reminded of them.  Knowing that I won't be seeing them makes me sad but knowing that they will be smiling upon the Easter table and partaking in the festivities in their own way makes me happy.  I am reminded of the sadness today as one of my viewers from Twitch sent me a message on discord that their mother passed away at the tender young age of 54.  My mother passed away at 65 and I was devastated, so the fact that my friend is going through this at a younger age than I was makes me feel for them greatly.  I truly believe that when a family member or loved one passes, that they truly do not leave us forever.  I believe that they simply move to a new plane of existence and that we will one day naturally meet again but it is extremely hard in the moment to know and feel this when the pain of their departure is so raw and emotional.  I will be praying for my friend to have the strength to tackle the days ahead, even though initially, it feels like a burden to hard to process.

Aside from having a different date, Orthodox Christian Easter differs as well through one big tradition, the cracking of the eggs.  It is tradition to make dozens of hard-boiled eggs during Easter and paint them red, then playing a little game to test how strong the eggs are against each other.  One person holds an egg vertically in their hand while another person crashes their egg down upon the idle egg's vertical tip to see if they can break the egg or if their eggshell gets broken first.  The player with the last unbroken egg is declared the winner and it believed to be blessed with good luck for the coming year.  We will see how my luck fairs this year in a few hours.

Outside of visiting my aunt's house for Easter, I plan to have a pretty low-key day with streaming more Elder Scrolls Online both for a morning session of gaming and also in the evening.  I have been really enjoying the journey once again on my fresh account and character, so there is much to do for me to get back to where I was previously.  As I stream more and more Elder Scrolls Online, I have faith that my community will begin to build with more familiar faces that will also join the fun, and I look forward to building a stable way of life through streaming once again.  I still hold out hope to find a job IRL as well, but streaming will be my focus until then.

Until next time,

Blackboa
