Everquest 2 Launches New TLE Server Wuoshi June 9th

In just 5 short days, a new Time Locked Expansion (TLE) server called Wuoshi will be launching in the old school MMORPG Everquest 2 on June 9th at 12 noon PST. Day Break Games, the developers of Everquest 2, will be making this server available to all access members, meaning that you will need to have a subscription in order to play this particular server. Everquest 2 is free to play otherwise, with public servers available for people to play on who are not all access members. I have been streaming and playing Everquest 2 over the last couple of days in anticipation of this new server, learning the game and enjoying the new journey that Everquest 2 will present.
Time Locked Expansion Servers have different rule sets based on player feedback, and the particular details of the Wuoshi TLE server is as follows:
- This not a PvP Server, it is a standard TLE.
- This server will start with all expansions up to Echoes of Faydwer unlocked.
- The final expansion that will be unlocked will be Chaos Descending.
- This server will be Free Trade.
- Due to the Expanded Start, it will be able to participate in nearly all the live events from the start.
- Of the holiday events remaining being celebrated in 2026, only Tinkerfest will have a limited set of activities.
- Double Loot Weekends (Saturday from 12:01 a.m. through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. PT)
- All raid bosses will have their loot doubled.
- The final boss for any instanced dungeon will have their loot doubled.
- This does not apply to quest loot, or other loot not mentioned above.
In addition to the above details, an FAQ was provided by the developers of further questions that players had regarding the TLE server Wuoshi as follows:
Q: Will there be a Beta prior to launch?
A: No.
Q: What is the unlock cadence?
A: The unlock cadence is an expansion every 3 months.
Q: Could we change the expansion rollout to four months instead of three?
A: No.
Q: Will there be any itemization changes be made or will it be just like Varsoon?
A: Itemization is not being updated for Wuoshi with the exception of restricting some out-of-era items such as items from Darkpaw Dugout, the removal of Hunter's Missions, and the removal of the Lore Token Merchant.
We will be adjusting the itemization with Siren's Grotto, Cobalt Scar and Sleeper's Tomb zones for Chains of Eternity Mid-content.
Q: Do we have unlocked or higher stat caps for things like DPS modifier?
A: There are no stat cap changes for Wuoshi.
Q: Will the zone reset perk work here so we can double up on loot chances?
A: The Champion's Zone Lockout Reset perk item is available and functional on Timelocked Servers.
Q: Will we see any adjustments to Guild levels/perks?
A: There are no changes planned for Perks of Guild levels for Wuoshi.
Q: Will guild buffs be turned off?
A: The Guild buff ability does not grant any bonuses on Timelocked servers.
Q: Will all classes and races be out at the start?
A: All Classes and races that were available at the launch of Echoes of Faywder will be available. Aerakyn and the Freeblood will also be available at launch. Other classes will unlock with the corresponding expansions.
Q: When does Beastlord come out?
A: When Age of Discovery is unlocked.
Q: Will Vah Shir be available as well for premium races?
A: No.
Q: Will familiars have stats and be available on the server?
A: Familiars will not have stats but will be available as fluff pets.
Q: Will mounts have stats?
A: Mounts will not have stats.
Q: Is there going to be any level locking?
A: There will not be any level locking on Wuoshi, but there are level caps, as dictated by the expansions as they unlock.
Q: Any plans to update AA's/abilities?
A: No.
Q: Will Timewarp be made mage only as it was originally spell double cast?
A: No.
Q: Will the server launch with the Echoes of Faydwer mid-content? Things like Unrest, Shard of Fear, Avatars, Echoes of Faydwer Hunters Missions?
A: Hunters Rewards are going away; past complaints on TLE servers have been that this content is too easy. It was decided that the Hunters rewards contribute to trivialization of content and are being removed for Wuoshi.Mid Content will be the same as all previous mid-content; we won't be changing anything.
Q: Will Overseer quests be in?
A: Yes.
Q: Will Heritage Crates be available on Wuoshi?
A: Heritage Crates will not be available for purchase on TLE servers.
Q: Is it possible to get double loot on this TLE if we are doing 3 month expansions?
A: Double Loot Weekends (Saturday from 12:01 a.m. through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. PT)
- All raid bosses will have their loot doubled.
- The final boss for any instanced dungeon will have their loot doubled.
- This does not apply to quest loot, or other loot not mentioned above.
Q: Is there any consideration for double loot or increased loot % for raid instances, or reducing lockout timers?
A: See above response.
Q: Is there any consideration for replacing hunters rewards with different items that do not trivialize content, such as providing raid gear as rewards instead, or some other fashion of engagement to keep folks logging in to run heroic content? (i.e. some other type of daily quest with relevant rewards?)
A: Hunters Missions have been removed from Wuoshi and there is no plan to replace them.
Q: Will Avatars be part of the release, and will they be instanced like they were on Varsoon?
A: There will be Avatars, but they will not be instanced; they will be Contested.
Q: How many Avatars are coming out? Are they not coming out in The Shadow Odyssey?
A: Only Echoes of Faydwer and Rise of Kunark Avatars will be available in their corresponding expansions.
Q: Will there be the original suburbs in Wuoshi even though it starts in Echoes of Faydwer?
A: It will be the same as it currently works on Varsoon.
Q: Will there be access to veteran awards in claim?
A: No, Veteran's Rewards are not available on TLE or Origins Servers.
Q: On Varsoon and Kaladim, they had to do the Mark of Awakening to progress through Deathtoll. Can it be changed back to how it was originally, so you only need the Flame Shield from the Deathtoll access quest?
A: There are no plans to change this.
Q: Will content past Age of Discovery be considered "live content" and not receive updates?
A: Unless there are bugs that need to be addressed, then yes, it's live content.
Q: Will crafting start at 70 along with adventure level?
A: Maximum tradeskill level always matches the maximum adventure level.
Q: Will there be a lv 70 bauble option to skip to Echoes of Faydwer endgame or is it just 1-70 like reg TLE?
A: There will be no bauble.
Q: Will we get current expansion claim rewards for the expansions we purchased on live?
A: Please see the bottom of this post for the complete list: CLAIMS
Q: Will the Inheritance Merchant be available like Varsoon?
A: Inheritance Merchants are no longer present in any version of the game and will not be on Wuoshi.
Q: Will the Kael Drakkel runes be removed or at least applied to Wuoshi-server appropriate activities?
A: The Lore Token Merchant Ronald Gleneed is no longer present on Timelocked servers.
Q: Will Berserkers receive a balance pass on Blood rage changing it to a .2-.5% Heal or will it upgrade with levels rather than staying at 40ish the entire time?
A: No plans for any individual class balance changes for the TLE. These affect everything that is live.
My Plans for the Wuoshi TLE Server:
Leading up to this launch on June 9th, I personally plan to continue playing on the RP server Antonia Bayle, which is a free to play server, in order to get familiar with many of the systems that Everquest 2 employs in its MMORPG. So far, I have chosen the Berserker class and the Ogre race and have been exploring Neriak and its surrounding quest regions while leveling up. I am unsure if this class and race will be my ultimate choice upon the release of the Wuoshi TLE server, but so far, I have been enjoying it.
One of my favorite things that I have learned thus far is the crafting system. Everquest 2 departs from original Everquest in a big way by having more crafting related professions and more meaningful crafting equipment than the original Everquest, adding in a fun layer of progression for players to sink their teeth into. The tutorial in Neriak, one of the capital cities of Hate for Evil aligned races, helped me see how the crafting process worked for all of the professions that are available in Everquest 2. Once you reach artisan level 9, and then once again at artisan level 19 in your crafting, there is a certification process that you must go through in order to choose a specialization of crafting before you can level up any more at level 9 and 19. For our practice run on the Antonia Bayle server, we choose the outfitter specialization as we ultimately want to become an armorer to make gear for our Berserker.
Another important part of crafting is the daily crafting quests that are available from the daily crafting NPCs. They supply players with 3 quests per day that help to level up the artisan level of their characters with a big boost of xp for crafting the items that are requested. This is why, no matter what crafting specialization you choose, it is important to gather everything you find in the open world because there is a chance the crafting daily could be something other than what you are specialized in. Luckily, the gathering resources are abundant and easy to gather, so there should be no problem having an overabundance of resources for this purpose with the only limitation being inventory and bank capacity.
Whether I stick to the Berserker class for the Wuoshi TLE server launch or not, I am excited to continue the adventure in Everquest 2 on June 9th at 2 p.m. PST. I will be streaming the journey on twitch, and I believe a few of my streamer friends will also be joining me in the process. Even though Everquest 2 is a dated MMORPG, it keeps fresh by adding these TLE servers regularly, giving new players like me and returning players an opportunity to jump into the fun on a fresh start server. Daybreak does a good job of this, and I am looking forward to the future adventures everyone will be having together.
Until next time,
Blackboa
