Doubling Down on Dungeons and Dragons

After an unsuccessful attempt to get back into Albion Online as mentioned on yesterday's Blog Post, I am deciding to double down on my interest in Dungeons and Dragons, the greatest tabletop role playing game of all time. Yesterday's stream was frustrating to say the least. Within a matter of 45 minutes, I had died four times in Albion Online's full loot PvP area with my new character who went from positive 2.5 million down to 0 in an instant. This caused me to rage quit and uninstall the game on the spot. While I love Albion Online as my favorite game of all time, I am definitely burned out and not enjoying it any longer. Here comes Dungeons and Dragons to the rescue, a game that I never played and a game that utilizes our imagination to create the world and story through a dedicated ruleset and improvisation of the players and dungeon master.
To calm myself down from my frustration yesterday, I ended up searching YouTube to watch a session of Dungeons and Dragons. There are so many creators both on YouTube and Twitch who create Dungeons and Dragons content that I had plenty of creators to choose from, but I landed on a random video made two years ago from a group called Natural Six. This group started creating content two years ago and I was able to watch their Session 0 and Session 0.5 YouTube Videos, each of which was about 1.5 hours long, and I have to say they are a talented group of people. Not only was the Dungeon Master amazing at setting the stage of the adventure, but the players were also incredible in their descriptions of their characters.
As mentioned in my previous blog post, I have already purchased many of the Dungeons and Dragons books that I will require when I find a group to play with, and I already have started cultivating an interest in my personal discord channel. FireDogForge is willing to DM, and I have Stuie, MageIt, and myself who have expressed interest in playing as players assuming we can find a time that would work for all participants. If we can get a static group going with 4 to 6 players on a regular basis, it would be so much fun to go through our own campaign.
In the meantime, I plan to continually watch YouTube videos to learn about Dungeons and Dragons but also read up on the books that I purchased and even take a look at the D&D Essentials kit that I bought as well. The kit contains premade character sheets for a number of player characters along with detailed cards of some of their abilities to make it easier to understand how and when to interact in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. It also includes a rulebook and tons of other resources available to assist both dungeon masters and players in their respective roles on how to play the game. I almost want to find a Dungeons and Dragons workshop somewhere where I can go on a vacation and play sessions of D&D to learn more hands on from highly experienced players and dungeon masters, so I will have to look into that opportunity if it exists (a quick google search shows that they do indeed exist).
With that said, I am excited to continue my education within the Dungeons and Dragons multiverse. Today's stream will feature episode 1 of the Natural Six campaign that I will watch live on twitch with my community. I also will be playing the Dungeons and Dragons Neverwinter MMORPG game after the video is complete to break up the stream and enjoy some PC gaming while I am at it. I am curious to see how my community will react to the content I will show today because if we can get enough people interested, it may actually be a very exciting time to play Dungeons and Dragons.
Until next time,
Blackboa
