A Weekend of Rest for the Body

06/12/2026

It has been approximately 2 months since I started walking and working out on a daily basis, and it appears that my body is telling me it is time to rest.  With the heat for this time of year feeling like it is 90 - 100 degrees outside, my body is starting to show signs of fatigue.  Over the last couple of days especially, my right foot has been hurting significantly, mainly due to my big toe feeling like it is constantly cramped up.  I have experienced this exact pain before when I use to work at the family restaurant, so I know it will pass with a little bit of rest.  Therefore, I am using this weekend as my time to relax a bit so that I can start my daily training anew come Monday.

While I am disappointed that I need this rest in the first place, I ultimately cannot just keep trudging forward when I feel pain for risk of a more serious injury arising.  I have not taken any Advil or Tylenol in a few months, but if the pain continues into the day and into tomorrow, I will absolutely have to consider doing so.  The pain has been significant enough to affect my sleep habits last night, as when I woke up to readjust myself, I feel the pain in my big toe.  Looking at my feet, they don't necessarily look swollen, but to be safe, I will absolutely need this well needed rest.

After going to my metabolic DR appointment yesterday, I learned a few things about myself and my current weight training routine.  I normally am walking between 30-45 mins daily and only weightlifting approximately 15 mins daily.  The DR I saw told me to swap that time to 15 mins walking and 45 mins weightlifting.  She pointed out that in order to burn fat, I will need to build much more muscle than my current body has, and that will stimulate my weight loss considerably.  Hearing this, along with the fact that my foot currently hurts, seems to be a sign for me to change my habits so that my feet will thank me for it.  I normally walk approximately 2 laps around my park, so instead of two, I will just do 1 first thing in the morning, then spend the majority of my time at the gym.

Because of the added gym time, I will have to also adjust my current weightlifting routine as well.  Over the last two months, I have been only working out one muscle group at a time each time I went, but moving forward, this will be the new routine:

1).  Chest / Triceps

2).  Back / Biceps

3).  Shoulders / Abs

4).  Legs / Abs

I think this change will make for a great continued transformation into my physical manifestation that I hope will continue to be achieved over time with dedication to working out, walking, and eating healthy.  What I need to tell myself is that rest is necessary and not treat this as a reason to stop doing the great strides that I have taken all together over the last couple of months.  It is necessary, when injured, to take a break, and that is all this is, a temporary break till Monday so that my body can recover.  Come Monday, my body will thank me for it.  With that said, it is time to get ready to start the stream early today and hit the ground running in Everquest 2.  I have not shopped for food yet today, but I do have some celery and watermelon left over for breakfast and I can take a quick break during lunch to go shop for groceries accordingly.  Wishing you all a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

Until next time,

Blackboa
